Biography of James Marsden

James Marsden is an American actor born in 1973 in the town of Stillwater, Oklahoma. He attended Putnam City North High School before enrolling at Oklahoma State University, where he was a member of the fraternity 'Delta Delta Tau'. After completing his studies, Marsden landed his first television role as Eddie in the series 'The Nanny'.

Early Career

Following his debut on television, Marsden appeared in the adventure TV film 'Search and Rescue' directed by Paul Krasny, which was released in 1994. That same year, he also had a significant role in Howard McCain's comedy film 'No Dessert, Dad, Till You Mow the Lawn'. By the end of the 1990s, Marsden's popularity as an actor grew, and he had already accumulated around ten roles, including numerous television series such as 'Party of Five', 'The Outer Limits', and 'Ally McBeal'. He also starred in the thriller film 'Disturbing Behavior' in 1998, portraying the lead character Steve Clark.

Breakthrough and Success

In 2000, Marsden achieved breakthrough success with his role in the dramatic thriller 'Gossip' directed by Davis Guggenheim. He played the main character in a group of students who unknowingly become victims of a gossip experiment. That same year, Marsden appeared in another thriller film, Bryan Singer's 'X-Men', where he portrayed Scott Summers (Cyclops), a role he would reprise in its sequels. One of his most well-known roles came in Bob Gale's 'Interstate 60' in 2002, where he played the protagonist, Neal Oliver.

Recent Projects

In 2004, Marsden starred in Nick Cassavetes' drama film 'The Notebook' and shortly after, in Chris Terrio's 'Heights'. In 2009, he appeared in three significant films, portraying leading characters in each. This included Richard Kelly's thriller 'The Box', in which he starred opposite Cameron Diaz. In 2010, Marsden could be seen in at least two films, Neil LaBute's 'Death at a Funeral' and Rod Lurie's 'Straw Dogs'.

Marsden has been married to Lisa Linde since 2000, and they have two children together.
