James Rolfe: The Angry Video Game Nerd
Early YearsJames Rolfe was born in New Jersey on July 10, 1980. As a child in the mid-1980s, he began creating homemade video productions with a tape recorder. Inspired by video games like The Legend of Zelda and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, he made adventure stories and illustrated comic books. Rolfe also studied cartooning at university.
Filmmaking
In 1989, Rolfe started making short films, using Mario Paint in some of his early works. He eventually enrolled in art school and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Early on, his films lacked scripts or rehearsals, but as he began writing scripts, his friends lost interest due to difficulty remembering lines. He later experimented with puppets and figurines, including the 1994 film "The Giant".
Angry Video Game Nerd

In 2004, Rolfe was involved in a car accident when a truck trailer jackknifed and crashed into his vehicle. He escaped without physical injuries. Rolfe married April Chmura in 2007, and they have two daughters.
