Early Life and Career

Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker began his football journey in his hometown club, Bollingstedt. He later joined BSV Boyel 06 before eventually moving to the Bayer Leverkusen academy in 1998.

Debut for Bayer Leverkusen

After progressing through the ranks at Bayer Leverkusen, Callsen-Bracker signed a contract with the club's second team in 2002. He made his Bundesliga debut on April 10, 2004, in a resounding 6-0 victory against Kaiserslautern. Despite this debut, he only played one match for Bayer Leverkusen that season.

Injury and Struggles at Bayer Leverkusen

The following season, Callsen-Bracker suffered a severe leg fracture that sidelined him for most of the campaign. Despite recovering, he failed to establish himself in the Leverkusen first team, appearing in a mere 36 matches over the next four seasons.

Transfer to Borussia Monchengladbach

Seeking regular playing time, Callsen-Bracker moved to Borussia Monchengladbach in 2008. He made his debut against Hoffenheim but lost his starting spot after seven matches. In his second season, he sustained a serious ligament injury that kept him out for the majority of the campaign.

Decline and Departure

Relegated to the second team at the start of the 2010/11 season, Callsen-Bracker was subsequently released by Borussia Monchengladbach. He joined Augsburg on a free transfer in December 2010, signing a contract until June 2012.
