Jan Kolář: A Czech Hockey Defender on the Rise
Jan Kolář, born November 22, 1986 in Pardubice, Czech Republic, is a professional ice hockey defenseman currently playing for Amur Khabarovsk in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
Early Career
Kolář began his hockey career with his hometown club, HC Pardubice. He made his debut in the Czech Extraliga, the top-tier ice hockey league in the Czech Republic, in 2006. With Pardubice, he won the Czech Extraliga championship twice, in 2010 and 2012.
International Debut
Kolář made his international debut for the Czech national ice hockey team at the 2013 Sweden Hockey Games. He went on to represent his country at the 2014 and 2015 IIHF World Championships.
Donbass Years
In 2012, Kolář moved to HC Donbass in Ukraine, where he played for two seasons. In 95 games with Donbass, he scored four goals.
Time in Vladivostok
In 2014, Kolář signed a one-year contract with Admiral Vladivostok in the KHL. His performance impressed the team, and he signed a two-year contract extension in 2015.
Joining Amur Khabarovsk
For the 2022-23 season, Kolář joined Amur Khabarovsk, another KHL team based in the Russian Far East.
