Early Life and Education

Jana Bobošíková was born in Prague and spent her formative years in the city's Budejovická gymnasium. She later pursued a higher education at the University of Economics, Prague, graduating in 1987 with a degree in Business.

Media Career

Bobošíková's career in the media began at Czechoslovak Television in 1989, where she edited the home affairs section. Her reporting focused on the development of the civic movement and the privatization of state-owned enterprises.

Political Career

Bobošíková's political journey commenced in 2004 when she was elected to the European Parliament as part of the Independent Democrats party from the Czech Republic. In 2006, she founded her own party, "Politika 21." In late 2011, she assumed leadership of the newly established SOVEREIGNTY - Jana Bobošíková Bloc.

"Eternal Candidate"

Despite her tenure in the European Parliament, Bobošíková has gained the unfortunate reputation as the "eternal candidate" in Czech politics. She has unsuccessfully run in numerous elections, including eight consecutive electoral defeats. Among these were two presidential races.

Senate Elections

Bobošíková has twice contested Senate elections. In October 2010, she ran on the behalf of a coalition of parties, including her own SOVEREIGNTY - Politika 21. In March 2011, she represented the SOVEREIGNTY - Jana Bobošíková Bloc.

Presidential Elections

Bobošíková was nominated by the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia in the 2008 presidential election. However, she withdrew her candidacy due to lack of support from other political parties. In 2013, during the first popular presidential vote, she finished last with 2.39% of the votes.
