Early Life and Education
Jana Hlavačová, a Czech actress and theater educator, was born into a family with her sister, Daniela Hlavačová, also an actress. She pursued her theatrical education at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU) until 1960.
Theatrical Career
Jana's acting debut took place at the Josef Kajetán Tyl Theater in Plzeň. Her subsequent tenure with the National Theater in Prague lasted until 1990. In 1994, she joined the Na Vinohradech Theater.
Film and Television Work
Hlavačová's filmography boasts over 155 films. She has also made significant contributions to television productions and dubbing.
Recognition and Accolades
Her exceptional talent earned her the title of Merited Artist of Czechoslovakia in 1985 and People's Artist of Czechoslovakia in 1988. Additionally, she received various awards, including a nomination for the Czech Lion Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1995, the Thalia Award in 1996, and the František Filipovský Award in 2012 and 2015.
Political Involvement and Teaching
Hlavačová ventured into politics in 1990, serving as a member of the Czechoslovak Federal Assembly. Since 2006, she has held the position of professor at DAMU, where she imparts her expertise in dramatic acting.
Personal Life
Jana Hlavačová was married twice. Her first husband, actor Jiří Michný, passed away in 1969, leaving behind their daughter, Tereza Michnová (1963). Her second marriage with actor Luděk Munzar resulted in the birth of Barbora Munzarová (1971), who followed in her mother's footsteps to become an actress.
