Biography of Janine Marie Lindemulder
Janine Marie Lindemulder, also known as Janine or Dakota, is an American stripper and adult film actress. She gained fame for her work in American pornography films in the 1990s and 2004-2005.

Early Life and Career
Janine was born in La Mirada, California in 1968. She first appeared in Penthouse magazine in December 1987 as the "Pet of the Month." In 1990, she was chosen as the "Pet of the Year," coming in second place in the voting. She appeared in Penthouse several times over the next decade.

Janine initially tried her hand at mainstream acting in the beginning of her career. Her first role was in an Italian film called "Bersaglio sull'autostrada" in 1988. She continued to act in other mainstream films, including "Spring Break USA" and "Caged Fury," although none of them were successful. Her appearances in Penthouse led to her debut in adult films.
In 1989, Janine began working in the adult film industry. Her first semi-pornographic film was "Caged Fury," co-starring Erica Estrada. She appeared in several other films in 1990, only working with male partners. It was during this time that she conceived her son through unprotected sex, according to rumors. After that, Janine refused to work with men.
In 1992, Janine starred in the film "Hidden Obsessions" directed by Andrew Blake. She appeared in two more adult films before signing a contract with Vivid Video, becoming one of their Vivid Girls. As part of her contract, she only performed in sexually explicit scenes with women. She would go on to star in over fifty films for Vivid.
During her time with Vivid, Janine also pursued other projects. She formed a striptease duo called "Blondage" with Julia Ann and they performed in various clubs and appeared in several Vivid films. Janine also had a role as the camp director's wife in Howard Stern's film "Private Parts" and appeared as a guest on his TV and radio shows. She also appeared in music videos for Blink-182 and other artists.
Transition and Return to the Adult Film Industry
In 1999, Janine retired from performing in adult films to pursue a career as a preschool teacher, while still remaining involved in the industry as a director and producer. She cited wanting to spend more time with her child as the reason for her retirement. However, in April 2004, she made a surprising return to the adult film industry as an actress and producer, this time performing with both men and women.
Janine signed a contract with her former company, Vivid Video, and appeared in eight films released under their brand. Her first scene with a man after her hiatus was in the film "Maneater" with Nick Manning. In 2005, after her contract with Vivid Video expired, she signed with Digital Playground and appeared in several films for the company. She announced her retirement from the adult film industry in November 2005 but decided to continue after winning two AVN Awards for her role in the film "Pirates" in January 2006.
Currently, Janine mostly performs in lesbian scenes but continues to work with men as well. She has become an iconic figure in the porn industry, similar to Ron Jeremy, Peter North, and Jenna Jameson. She has been inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame.
Janine has undergone significant changes to her appearance, including piercings in her clitoris and nipples, as well as numerous tattoos all over her body.
Legal Troubles and Personal Life
In 2008, Janine pleaded guilty to deliberately failing to pay taxes and was unable to pay off her $200,000 tax debt. She had made a down payment on a house for $647,000 and bought two new cars, despite knowing about her tax obligations. She served one year of imprisonment and paid a $100,000 fine.
In December 2008, Janine was sentenced to six months in federal prison and ordered to live in a halfway house for six months after her release, with one year of supervised release. She also had to repay approximately $294,000 in past debts to the U.S. government. She served her sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution at Victorville, California, and was released in July 2009.
During her time in prison, Janine maintained a blog by sending letters to a webmaster and planned to obtain her high school diploma. She also plans to write a book about her experiences with lesbian sex in prison.
Janine's ex-husband, Jesse G. James, founder of "West Coast Choppers," gained custody of their daughter while Janine was in prison. After her release, Janine and James battled for custody rights. James accused Janine and her new husband, another convicted criminal, of being unfit parents. James won the case in December 2009, and Janine was granted limited visitation rights.
Janine has had sexual relationships with women outside of the porn industry. Her former strip duo partner, Julia Ann, claimed that they had sex together and described their relationship as "passionate friendship."
