Biography of Jann Arden
Early Life
Jann Arden Anne Richards was born on March 27, 1962, in Springbank, Alberta, near Calgary. She attended a local high school and spent most of the 1980s playing her music in bars and performing on the streets.
Rise to Fame
Arden's breakthrough came in 1993 with the release of her critically acclaimed debut album, "Time for Mercy," which achieved platinum status in Canada. The album's first single, "I Would Die For You," reached the top 10 on the national charts. Her success continued with the release of her second album, "Living Under June" (1994), which included the hit song "Insensitive." The song became Arden's biggest international hit, reaching number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. Another single from the album, "Could I Be Your Girl," also achieved significant success.
Music Career
Arden went on to release several more successful albums, including the double-platinum "Happy?" in 1997 and the gold-certified "Blood Red Cherry" in 2000 and "Love Is the Only Soldier" in 2003. She received numerous nominations and won multiple Juno Awards, Canada's most prestigious music award. Arden's albums consistently achieved gold or platinum status in Canada.
