French general and writer, born in 1766. He was a professor at the École Supérieure de Guerre (War College). He published the following works:

- "Mémoires pour servir à l'histoire de la campagne de 1814" (Paris, 1819)

- "Mémoires de Masséna" (Paris, 1819)

He also translated Archduke Karl's "Principles of Strategy" (Paris, 1817) and wrote a part of Jomini's "Histoire de la Révolution".

Mission to the East

In 1843-44, he was sent on a mission to the East by the Prussian government, along with Georg Rosen.
