Early Life and Education

Born in Paris in 1947, Pierre Morel earned his degree from the prestigious Institut d'Études Politiques (Sciences Po) in 1968. He then attended the École Nationale d'Administration (ENA), graduating in 1972, where he specialized in public service.

Professional Career

After graduating from ENA, Morel joined the central administration of the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Budget, handling economic, financial, and legal matters.

Diplomatic Career

In 1978, Morel embarked on his diplomatic career in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He served as Second Counselor at the Permanent Representation of France to the European Communities in Brussels (1978-1982).

Subsequent assignments included:

First Counselor at the French Embassy in Abidjan, Ivory Coast (1982-1984)

First Counselor at the French Embassy in Bonn, Germany (1984-1986)

Minister-Counselor and Deputy Permanent Representative at the French Mission to the European Communities in Brussels (1986-1992)

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Greece (1992-1994)

Secretary-General of the Interministerial Committee for European Economic Cooperation (1995-1997)

Later Career

After leaving the diplomatic service, Morel was appointed Senior Advisor to the French Court of Auditors in 2006. He has been involved with the Franco-Russian Dialogue society, fostering cultural and intellectual exchange between France and Russia.
