Biography of Jean-Claude Jitrois

French designer Jean-Claude Jitrois is known as the inventor of stretch leather, which perfectly clings to the body and makes it more sensual and seductive.
Early Life and Education

In his youth, Jitrois received an education in therapy and psychiatry at the University of Nice. However, in the early 80s, a new chapter began in his life when he opened a small leather clothing store in Nice. The endeavor proved successful, and soon a second boutique emerged, this time in Saint-Tropez.
A Vision of Fashion

According to Jitrois, clothing is a person's second self, their "second skin," and a vision of the world. Contemplating this, the designer turned to the use of new technologies in creating clothing from perfectly tanned leather and ultra-fine suede. In 1993, he created his famous leather-stretch material, combining leather and cotton. In 1998, he introduced a collection of denim clothing in street and sporty styles, including figure-hugging pieces.
Global Success

Soon, Jitrois stores opened in London, Hong Kong, the United States, Japan, and Paris, on the famous Fauburg St. Honore. Today, the designer's clients include Celine Dion, Liz Hurley, Brooke Shields, Elton John, Princesses Stephanie and Caroline of Monaco, Elizabeth Taylor, and Cher.
