Biography of Jean Leloup

Jean Leloup, also known by his aliases John the Wolf and John Leclerc, is a Canadian rock musician. He was born in May 1961 in a small town in the province of Quebec, Canada. However, as a child, he moved to Africa with his parents, where he lived in Togo and Algeria. It was during this time that he became captivated by African rhythms and began studying music, teaching himself to play the guitar.

Returning to Quebec in 1976, Jean burst onto the music scene with his unique style and sound. In 1990, he released one of his most successful songs, "1990," in which he compared the Gulf War to his romantic escapades with his girlfriend. The album "L'amour est sans pitié," which included the song, became an instant hit well beyond Quebec. Jean quickly gained fame in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Japan.

In 1997, Jean became the recipient of the Félix Award for his second professional album, "Le Dôme." At the end of 2003, he decided to retire from his musical career and took a step back from music. However, he didn't stay away for long and in 2005, he started a collaborative project with the band "Porn Flakes." Their first single, "Les Corneilles," was well-received by music critics and quickly made its way to local radio stations.

Shortly before his return, Jean Leloup released a philosophical book titled "Noir destin que le mien" (original title: "Le Tour du monde en complet"). Interestingly, he did not want his name to be associated with philosophy, which is why he took on the alias "Massoud Al-Rachid." In September 2006, Jean released his latest solo album, "Mexico."

In the 400th anniversary of Quebec, Jean performed a small concert on the main square of the city. At the beginning of his performance, he promised the audience that this hour would be the best of their lives, and he did not disappoint. The concert was outstanding and left a lasting impression on the listeners.

On April 28, 2009, Jean released his final album, "Mille Excuses Milady." After its release, he publicly announced that he no longer had any involvement with music and was retiring.
