Jeff Langum: The Champion of Beards
When Jeff Langum strode onto the stage, the audience erupted not in mere applause, but in thunderous cheers. It was this roar – the reaction of the crowd – that would ultimately determine the victor. And so it was that Jeff Langum emerged as the United States' reigning Beardmeister.
The National Beard and Mustache Championship
Langum's triumph was celebrated at the recent National Beard and Mustache Championship held in New Orleans, Louisiana. Over 150 contestants from across the United States, Great Britain, and Canada vied for supremacy in 17 categories on Saturday at the House of Blues in New Orleans' French Quarter.
Spearheaded by the Beard Team USA, this was the fourth annual competition showcasing the nation's most remarkable facial hair.
Langum's Viking Mane
Langum's beard – a fiery orange masterpiece – earned him not only the $1,000 grand prize but also the coveted title of Beardmeister. The victor was determined by audience vote, and the competition featured numerous categories, including Freestyle, Amish Beard, and Dali Mustache.
In the final round, each category winner took the stage, leaving it to the crowd to choose the ultimate champion.
Notable Mustaches
Among the outstanding mustaches, Devon Holcombe of Jacksonville stood out in the Natural Mustache category, his whiskers measuring an impressive 24 inches in length. Sean Mabry of Louisville took home the win for his twirled and waxed handlebar mustache, a nod to the early 1900s.
A Nation's Most Unique Beard
This year, the honor of possessing America's best beard went to Jeff Langum of Philadelphia. Whether he had ever imagined his facial adornment would bring him such glory is unknown, but that is precisely what came to pass.
Now headed to the World Beard and Mustache Championships, Langum revels not only in his victory but also in the camaraderie and celebration that the competition fosters. "It's like a family reunion with guys from all over the country," he remarked.

In addition to the competition itself, the event included a parade where the nation's most extravagant and original facial hair was showcased on the streets of New Orleans.
