Biography of Jenna Bush
Early Life and EducationJenna Bush, currently known as Jenna Welch Hager after marriage, was born on November 25, 1981, in Dallas, Texas, USA. She is the daughter of the 43rd President of the United States, George W. Bush, and the granddaughter of the 41st President, George H. W. Bush. Jenna has a twin sister named Barbara. Due to her father's political career, she attended several middle schools in Texas. She began her education at Preston Hollow Elementary School and later attended The Hockaday School. In 1994, when her father was elected as the Governor of Texas, the family moved to Austin, and Jenna and her sister studied at Andrew's Episcopal School. In 2000, she graduated from Austin High School and then enrolled at the University of Texas.
Media Attention during the Presidential Campaign
During the 2004 presidential campaign, when her father was running for re-election, Jenna Bush and her sister became the focus of media attention. Journalists uncovered some compromising facts about Jenna and her sister, such as underage drinking and an attempt to buy alcohol using their mother's social security number. Fortunately for George W. Bush, similar facts were also revealed about his opponent's daughter, Jim Carrey. Some referred to the pre-election race as the "Battle of the Daughters." Jenna and her sister gave several interviews in response, including one to Vogue magazine.
Work and Writing Career
In 2006, Jenna Bush worked as a teacher for six months before embarking on an internship with the UNICEF organization in Panama. Upon her return, she resumed her work at Elsie Whitlow Stokes Community Freedom Public Charter School, where she still works to this day. In 2007, Jenna wrote a book titled "Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope" about the lives of children in Latin America. In 2008, she published another book called "Read All About It!"
Marriage and Personal Life
During her father's campaign in 2004, Jenna Bush met Henry Hager, the son of the Vice Governor of Virginia and an assistant to Secretary George W. Bush, John H. Hager. They got engaged in August 2007, and on May 10, 2008, they tied the knot.
