Peter Adler Clausen-Kaas, a Danish educator, played a pivotal role in the development of craft education globally.

Advocacy for Craft Education

Driven by the belief that manual labor was crucial for the well-rounded development of individuals alongside intellectual pursuits, Clausen-Kaas tirelessly promoted his ideas throughout Europe and Russia. He published numerous pamphlets and delivered public lectures to advocate for the integration of handicrafts into education.

Founding of Craft Societies

In 1870, Clausen-Kaas established the Danish Society of Home Crafts, which inspired the foundation of similar societies in various countries. He also raised awareness about craft education at major international exhibitions in Vienna (1873) and Paris (1878).

Establishment of Craft Schools

Clausen-Kaas's efforts extended to the practical implementation of his ideas. In Saxony, he organized several craft schools in 1883. He also introduced model and drawing classes at the Institute for the Blind in Dresden.
