Jerry Lynn: A Wrestling Veteran
Jerry Lynn, known as a veteran of the TNA X-Division and one of the most respected wrestlers worldwide, has achieved it all in the world of wrestling. However, it has been quite some time since Jerry Lynn has appeared in the ring, as he has been sidelined due to a shoulder injury. During this time, Lynn has been working behind the scenes in TNA, assisting many X-Division wrestlers.
The Injury and Road to Recovery
In February 2004, during the America's X Cup, Jerry Lynn suffered a shoulder injury in a match against Juventud Guerrera. Lynn took a modified version of Juventud's finishing move, the Juvi Driver, and landed on his head and shoulder. The injury was not immediately apparent to Lynn due to the adrenaline, but he knew something was wrong because of the pain. After returning from the ring, he immediately put ice on his shoulder. Lynn experienced subtle pain for a year before realizing that he needed surgery.
The Decision to Operate
When asked if he had seen a doctor and why he initially declined surgery, Lynn explained that he had to continue working, so the doctor's words did not hold much weight for him at the time. He also mentioned that he had to pay the bills. However, as the pain persisted, Lynn eventually reached a point where he could no longer raise his arm or perform certain movements without assistance. It was then that he realized surgery was necessary.
The Recovery Process
After the operation, Lynn wore a sling and underwent three days of therapy per week for three months. He also performed exercises at home, including stretching with bands and using light weights. Through frequent visits to the therapist, Lynn regained full range of motion in his arm, although he estimates his shoulder is currently at about 60% of its health.
Working Behind the Scenes
During his time away from wrestling, Jerry Lynn worked behind the scenes as an agent or trainer for the TNA roster. He aimed to teach the X-Division stars the lessons he learned when he first started his wrestling career. Lynn felt a sense of guilt, but he believed it was part of the learning process and wanted to pass on his knowledge to keep the art of wrestling alive in these wrestlers.
The Future and Return to Wrestling
When asked about his plans for returning to wrestling, Lynn mentioned that pitchers need a full year to recover, so he hopes to make a comeback in June of this year. However, he emphasized that he will not rush his return if he is not ready. As for the current X-Division stars, Lynn sees potential in Sonjay Dutt, Elix Skipper, and Johnny Devine, among others. He believes their success depends on their goals, mindset, and willingness to learn.
A Message to the Fans
In closing, Jerry Lynn expressed his gratitude to the fans and promised to make one last return, one last run. He hopes to avoid any mishaps that could result in another injury and is determined to do what he loves most: stepping into the ring and delivering memorable performances.
