Miculek worked as a mechanic, welder, fitter, machinist, and even a builder before pursuing shooting professionally. He spent fifteen years as a machinist at Freeport Chemical before turning his passion for shooting into a career in 1989.
Since childhood, Miculek had a genuine passion for hunting, and his talent for shooting emerged at an early age. However, it took years for him to fully utilize his gift. At the age of 37, Miculek met his future wife, Kay Clark, the daughter of renowned gunsmith Jim Clark. She not only became his loving wife but also his faithful companion. Interestingly, Kay is also a shooter and competes in speed shooting events with pistols and rifles. A couple of years later, Jerry and Kay welcomed their daughter Lena, who has become a well-known figure in the shooting world.
