Biography of Jessica Collins
Jessica Collins, an American actress, was born on April 1, 1971, in Schenectady, a suburb of New York. She has two younger twin brothers, Chad and Zak. Collins attended a high school in Amsterdam, a suburb of New York. In 1988, she won a beauty pageant among teenage girls in New York and became a participant in a national-scale competition of the same kind. She studied at the Theatre Studio of the Royal National Theatre in London and at the Howard Fine Acting Studio in Los Angeles.
Early Career
Collins made her television debut playing Dina Lee Mayberry on the soap opera "Loving". She then appeared in various television series such as "American Dreams", "Unscripted", and "Tru Calling". Despite her periodic roles in TV shows, Collins pursued her career in full-length films of different genres, ranging from the critically acclaimed "Catch Me If You Can" directed by Steven Spielberg to the trashy "Dirty Love".
Personal Life and Career
On November 2, 1996, Jessica Collins married Robert Tyler. However, after a little over five years of marriage, they got divorced in February 2002. Throughout her relatively short career in the film industry, Collins has played diverse roles. In the TV series "Tru Calling" (2003), she portrayed Meredith, a troubled and hopelessly drug-addicted sister of the telepathic Tru Davies, played by Eliza Dushku. This series gained popularity among viewers, and Collins received recognition for her brilliant performance.
Unfortunately, the following year, she took on a role in the poorly received and offensive comedy "Dirty Love" by Jenny McCarthy. Despite the public's negative reaction to the film, Collins had a minor, insignificant role, and the criticism did not affect her career significantly. Soon after, Collins had the opportunity to work with talented director Susan Seidelman on the dramatic comedy "The Ranch" about prostitution. She then returned to television, appearing in the short-lived drama series "Big Shots" in 2007.
