Biography of Jessica Harp

Jessica Leigh Harp was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1982. From a young age, she had a passion for music and began singing at the age of three. By the time she was eight, she was already writing songs, and at thirteen, she was performing them while accompanying herself on the guitar.

In 2002, at the age of twenty, Harp released her first independent solo album called "Preface." However, the album did not bring her much commercial success or popularity.

In 2005, Harp joined forces with her close friend, Michelle Branch, to form the country duo "The Wreckers." Their debut single, "The Good Kind," became the soundtrack for the popular TV series "One Tree Hill." In February 2006, they released the single "Leave the Pieces," which preceded the release of their album "Stand Still, Look Pretty" in May of the same year. The song quickly reached number one on the "Billboard Hot Country Songs" chart, and the album went on to sell over 500,000 copies, earning a gold certification.

Despite their initial success, Harp and Branch announced the hiatus of The Wreckers and began pursuing solo projects. In February 2008, Harp married violinist Jason Mowery. That same year, she started recording her solo album titled "A Woman Needs" under Warner Bros. Nashville. The album was set to be released in 2009 and featured collaborations with Jerry Flowers. The lead single, "Boy Like Me," was released in March 2009 and reached the Top 30 on the country music charts. The title track, "A Woman Needs," served as the second single to support the album.

Currently, Jessica Harp resides in Nashville, the capital of country music. In addition to her love for music, she is a big fan of football and enjoys the company of her cats and dogs. She also enjoys vacationing in Hawaii and has a fondness for Mexican cuisine and diet cola. Harp cites Patty Griffin and Ryan Adams as her musical influences. When asked what she would do if she were not a musician, she states that she would still write songs, even if she did not perform them.
