At the age of 11, she landed a role in Andrew Lloyd Webber's West End production of "Whistle Down the Wind." Undeterred, she quickly gained a reputation as a talented songwriter. She later signed a new contract with Sony ATV. During this time, Jessie also worked as a backup singer for Cyndi Lauper during her concert tour in the United Kingdom. Her songs were performed by artists such as Chris Brown and Miley Cyrus.

While Jason was initially skeptical of her talent, Jessie and her team eventually convinced him. She began working on her debut studio album in 2006, which was finally completed on January 19, 2011.
