Jill Barnett was born and raised in Southern California. She spent her summers in Texas with her grandfather.

Barnett initially planned to become a history teacher and write textbooks. She decided to pursue a PhD in her thirties.

Jill received the devastating news that she would be unable to bear children. Despite this, she became pregnant soon after. Two years later, she left her studies to focus on raising her daughter, Casey.
Writing Career
Inspired by motherhood, Barnett started writing novels. In 1988, she sold her first book. Since then, she has authored over 13 novels, translated into 17 languages, with sales exceeding 5 million copies worldwide.
Personal Loss and Resilience
In 1995, Barnett's husband, John, tragically passed away. Initially, she questioned her ability to continue writing her lighthearted and joyful books. However, supported by her daughter, family, and friends, she found solace in her writing during this difficult time.
