Biography of Jimmy Cochran

Jimmy Cochran, an American alpine skier, was born in 1981 in Burlington, Vermont, into a renowned family of skiers, some of whom have competed in the Olympics. His father, Bobby Cochran, was a member of the 1972 Olympic team and a seven-time US champion, while his grandfather was a celebrated coach in the 1970s. Today, the Cochran family runs a ski school together, and Jimmy is not the only one pursuing a career in skiing. He has an older brother and a younger sister, who is also a skier.

Early Start and Education

Given his family background, it is no surprise that Jimmy took his first ski run at the age of three. He then participated in his first family training sessions and later attended the University of Vermont, where his father and grandfather had also been involved in skiing. Jimmy's non-sporting specialty was engineering.

Rise in Skiing Career

In 2003, Jimmy Cochran faced his first serious challenge in speed skiing when he participated in the championship in Park City. He achieved eight victories that season, including silver and bronze medals at the NCAA Championship in Dartmouth College. He represented the United States in the 2004-2005 season, participating in the World Cup and the World Championship. In 2006, Jimmy made it to the US Olympic team.
