Joanna Going, an American actress and producer, was born on July 22, 1963, in Washington, D.C. She grew up in Newport, Rhode Island, and graduated from Rogers High School in 1981. She attended Emerson College for two years before enrolling at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City in 1983.
Early Career
In the late 1980s, Joanna made her television debut, portraying Lisa Grady in the TV series "Another World." She appeared in the series for over two years from 1987 to 1989, during which she also landed roles in "The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd" and "CBS Summer Playhouse." Until the mid-1990s, Joanna primarily worked in television projects, including "Shadows of the Past," "Woman and Wallace," "Columbo: No Time to Die," "The Game Nika," and "New Year."
Transition to Film
Although Joanna initially worked in television series and shows, she had a strong desire to act in feature films. Her breakthrough in "real" cinema came with the role of Josie Marcus in the 1994 film "Wyatt Earp." This was followed by roles in "Little Odessa" and "Nixon" in 1995, and the drama "Eden" in 1996. In 1997, she appeared in five films: the crime drama "Inventing the Abbotts," the romance films "Lovers," "The Last Breath," and "Commandments," and the comedy "Keys to Tulsa." Joanna's most famous role is considered to be Jennifer Pailey in the 1998 film "Phantoms," which propelled her career forward.
