Biography of Jocelyne Larocque
Jocelyne Don Marie Larocque, a Canadian ice hockey player, is known for her incredible scoring ability as a defenseman. She has played for the Canadian national women's ice hockey team and was a former defenseman for the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs.
Early Career
Larocque began playing hockey and basketball in 2002 as a member of the College Lorette Collegiate team in Manitoba. In the 2003-2004 season, she became the first woman to play in the boys' high school league in Winnipeg. She also represented Manitoba in the 2003 Esso Women's Nationals.
Success with Calgary Oval X-Treme
In 2005, Larocque joined the Calgary Oval X-Treme and became a champion in the WWHL. She continued to excel in her career, participating in the NCAA Frozen Four in March 2009 and making significant contributions to her team.
Accomplishments and Recognition
In 2010, Larocque achieved a milestone in her career by earning her 100th point as a defenseman for the Bulldogs. She was also recognized as the most productive defenseman in the WCHA, with 24 points in 26 league games. Larocque was included in the All-WCHA team and was named the league's Best Defenseman and Most Productive Defenseman.
Additionally, she received recognition as an outstanding student-athlete and earned a spot on the All-WCHA Academic Team.
International Success
Larocque represented Canada in various international competitions, including the Canadian national team's fall festival in 2007. She was a champion in the Air Canada Cup for women in the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 seasons.
Although initially not selected for the Canadian Olympic team, Larocque eventually earned a spot after her performance in the 2012 MLP Cup, where she contributed with an assist in the semi-final. In addition, she underwent additional training in Calgary and won a gold medal as part of the Canadian team in the Four Nations Cup.
