Astronomical Career
Gyldén's interest in astronomy led him to the Pulkovo Observatory in Russia, where he worked from 1862 to 1865. His research focused primarily on celestial mechanics, and he made significant contributions to understanding the orbital dynamics of planets and moons.
Director of Stockholm Observatory
In 1871, Gyldén was appointed director of the Stockholm Observatory. During his tenure, he modernized the observatory's instruments and expanded its research programs.
