Early Career at Elfsborg

Born in Borås, Sweden, Wiland began his footballing journey in 1997 with the youth team of his hometown club, Elfsborg. After making his debut in the 2000 Swedish Cup match against Sundsvall, he swiftly established himself as the team's primary goalkeeper.

Successes with Elfsborg

Throughout his tenure at Elfsborg, Wiland played every league match in the seasons of 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2008, leading the club to several titles. These include the Swedish Championship, Swedish Super Cup, and two Swedish Cup victories. In 2008, he was recognized as the Allsvenskan's top goalkeeper by the Swedish Football Association.

Transfer to FC Copenhagen

In 2008, Elfsborg reached an agreement with FC Copenhagen to transfer Wiland to the Danish club for 8 million Danish kroner. After concluding the Swedish season, he joined Copenhagen in January 2009. Making his official debut in the Danish Cup against Norrvest, Wiland assumed the role of the team's second goalkeeper. However, in late August 2009, he became the first-choice goalkeeper following an injury to Jesper Christiansen.

International Career

On the international stage, Wiland represented Sweden at the youth level before making his senior debut in 2007. He participated in the 2004 Under-21 European Championship, sharing goalkeeping duties with Jon Alvbåge. Wiland also featured in the 2008 European Championship squad for Sweden and was regularly called up to the national team post-tournament, despite not seeing significant playing time.
