Born in Lebanon, he moved to Toronto, Canada, shortly after his birth and later settled in Los Angeles, where he met the other members of System of a Down.
From the tender age of two, Dolmayan harbored an unwavering dream of becoming a drummer. He honed his skills on an old Ludwig drum kit, sparking his passion for percussion. Dolmayan's father played a pivotal role in his musical development, introducing him to Armenian, Arab, and jazz music.
Joining System of a Down
