Biography of John Hoeven
John Henry Hoeven III was born on March 13, 1957, in Bismarck, North Dakota, USA. He attended Dartmouth College and graduated with honors before obtaining his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Hoeven worked as a banker in Minot until his political career began. From 1993 to 2000, he served as the President and CEO of the Bank of North Dakota.

Political Career
In 2000, Hoeven was elected as the 31st Governor of North Dakota, representing the Republican Party. Prior to his governorship, he also held the position of President of the Bank of North Dakota. On September 25, 2007, Hoeven's press secretary, Don Larson, announced his temporary leave of absence to manage the governor's reelection campaign. On December 4, 2008, John Hoeven was reelected with an overwhelming victory, receiving 74% of the votes and defeating his Democratic opponent, Tim Mathern, who received 24% of the votes. This marked Hoeven as the first individual in North Dakota's history to be elected governor three times, each term lasting four years.

Governor Hoeven is known for his conservative stance on various social issues. He opposes abortion, except in cases of rape, incest, or when the mother's life is at risk. He is also against same-sex marriage and advocates for reducing access to conditional release for criminals.

As governor, Hoeven has been responsible for expanding and diversifying North Dakota's economy, resulting in a 75.8% increase in the state's gross domestic product. Since 2000, he has spearheaded the development of a multi-energy resources program, which has positioned North Dakota as one of the largest energy producers and exporters in the country. During his tenure, Hoeven has created 40,000 new jobs, and the state's reserve fund has grown from $600 million in 2006 to over $700 million.
