John Kerr: Scottish Figure Skater and Choreographer

John Kerr is a former Scottish figure skater who represented Great Britain in ice dance with his older sister, Sinead Kerr.

Early Years and First Partnership

Born into a family of skaters, Kerr began his ice skating journey as a "tag-along" when his mother took Sinead to a skating rink. His first skating partner was Anna Sayrett.

Partnership with Sinead Kerr

In 2000, Kerr teamed up with his sister to form a successful ice dance partnership. Together, they became seven-time British champions and two-time European bronze medalists (2009 and 2011).

International Success and Olympic Appearances

Kerr and Kerr made their Olympic debut at the 2006 Winter Games in Turin, placing 10th. They achieved notable success in the 2008-2009 Grand Prix series, earning bronze medals at both the Trophée Eric Bompard and Skate America.

Breakthrough Season and Final Years

The 2009-2010 season marked a breakthrough for the Kerr duo. They captured silver at the NHK Trophy and bronze at the Trophée Eric Bompard, qualifying them for their first Grand Prix Final, where they finished fourth. At the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, they placed 8th.

Retirement and Choreography Career

After the 2011 Skate Canada International, Kerr and Kerr announced their retirement from competitive skating. Kerr went on to become a successful choreographer, working with numerous figure skaters.
