John Mariotti: Author, Marketer, CEO
John Mariotti is an accomplished author, marketer, and CEO. He is the founder, President, and CEO of The Enterprise Group, a consulting firm he established in 1994.

Corporate Leadership
Mariotti holds board positions for several companies, including World Kitchen, Henkel Consumer Adhesives, Petmate, DF Co. LLC, Levick Strategic Communications, and HomeCare Industries. He previously served as President of Rubbermaid Office Products Group from 1992 to 1994, where he led the organization to become the industry leader and the largest bicycle manufacturer in the world.
Innovation and Leadership at Huffy Bicycles
From 1982 to 1992, Mariotti was President of Huffy Bicycles. Under his leadership, Huffy Bicycles became an industry leader and the largest bicycle manufacturer at the time. The factory in Celina, Ohio, where Huffy Bicycles were produced, was one of the most productive in the world and known for its high employee engagement through the United Steel Worker union. The factory was among the first in the United States to implement methodologies such as Total Quality Management, Lean Manufacturing, and Mass Customization.
Early Career in Engineering and Technology
Mariotti holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Bradley University and a Master's degree from the University of Wisconsin. He began his career in high technology, research, and design engineering in electronics at Automatic Electric Laboratories, a division of GTE Corporation.
Management and Business Development
From engineering and design, Mariotti transitioned to management at L. R. Nelson Corporation. He became Vice President of Planning and Development, where he led acquisitions that helped the company grow sixfold in 12 years.
Writing and Thought Leadership
Mariotti is the author of 9 business books and one novel. His first book, The Power of Partnerships, was published in 1995. His subsequent book, The Shape Shifters—Continuous Change for Competitive Advantage, published in 1997, became a "Top Ten Business Book for Executives" and won the Innothink Award.
He also authored three books in the Smart Things to Know series: Smart Things to Know About Brands and Branding in 1999, Smart Things to Know about Marketing in 2000, and Smart Things to Know about Partnerships in 2001. The Silence, his novel about cyber-terrorism, was published in 2003, and his latest book, The Complexity Crisis, was published in 2008 and became a bestseller in the business management genre.
Mariotti has authored columns and editorials for IndustryWeek magazine from 1995 to 2000. He has also moderated the magazine's America's Best Plants Conferences and facilitated discussions for the National Conferences of the Association for Manufacturing Excellence.
His writing has appeared in publications such as American Management Association, Management Centre Europe, Fortune Small Business, and Netscape Netbusiness. His work has been featured in over 200 publications, with columns in Small Business Trends and American Express Open Forum.
Mariotti has authored and published weekly newsletters entitled THE ENTERPRISE since 2001, which are now available on his public blog. He has also been a featured speaker for 14 years at The Reunion Conference.
Mariotti's articles and interviews have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Boardroom Reports/Bottom Line Business, Industry Week, Business Week, New Leaders, Executive Excellence, Personal Excellence, and numerous other magazines and newspapers.
