Biography of Jon Brion

Jon Brion is an American musician, singer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer. He was born in 1963 in Glen Ridge, New Jersey to a musical family. His father, Keith Brion, was a musical conductor, and his mother was a singer. Brion's siblings are also musicians, so his path into the music world was quite natural.

Early Career

Brion dropped out of school at the age of 17 to pursue his passion for music. In the 1980s, he gained some recognition as a member of the band 'The Bats'. Despite releasing a single and an album, the group did not achieve commercial success and eventually disbanded.

Transition to Boston

In 1987, Brion relocated to Boston and formed the short-lived band 'World's Fair'. By this time, he had already been actively involved in performing and recording with other musicians, eventually becoming a well-known and in-demand session musician. This reputation allowed him to venture into music production, starting with his girlfriend Aimee Mann's album 'Whatever'. He later produced Mann's album 'I'm With Stupid' as well.

Collaborations and Film Work

After his initial success, Brion went on to work with various musicians, including Fiona Apple, Rufus Wainwright, Eleni Mandell, Evan Dando, and others. In 2005, he became one of the producers for Kanye West's album 'Late Registration'. Brion is also known for his collaboration with Sean Lennon on the album 'Friendly Fire', with Lennon later praising their working relationship.
