Early Life and Family
Jonathan Kasdan was born on September 30, 1979, in Los Angeles, California, to filmmaker Lawrence Kasdan and Meg Kasdan (née Goldman). He is the son of renowned screenwriter and director Lawrence Kasdan and the older brother of filmmaker, screenwriter, producer, and actor Jake Kasdan (born 1974).
Acting Career
Jon Kasdan made his acting debut in his father's 1983 film, "The Big Chill." He went on to appear in the television series "Dawson's Creek" and "Freaks and Geeks," where he also served as a writer.
Directing and Writing
In 2006, Kasdan made his directorial debut with the film "In the Land of Women," which he also wrote. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was released in the United States in 2007. Kasdan has since directed several other films, including "Darling Companion" (2010) and "The First Time" (2012).
Illness
At the age of 17, while still in high school, Kasdan was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. He underwent treatment and has been in remission since then.
