Life Before Fame
Jonathan Lajoie, a Canadian comedian, actor, and musician, was born in Longueuil, Quebec, Canada. He grew up in South Shore, a neighborhood outside of Montreal. Lajoie was the third of nine children born to a Quebecois father and an Anglo-Canadian mother.
In 2002, Lajoie graduated from Dawson College in Quebec with a degree in acting. He initially worked in radio, voicing a character in a soap opera.
Rise to Internet Fame
In June 2007, Lajoie began posting comedic sketches on YouTube and other video-sharing websites. His initial breakthrough came with the video "Everyday Normal Guy," a satirical take on gangsta rap.
Lajoie followed up with other viral hits, including "2 Girls 1 Cup," "Sunday Afternoon," "High as Fuck," and "Show Me Your Genitals." The latter, a darkly humorous parody that lampooned patriarchal gender norms and macho culture, garnered over 73 million views.
Lajoie's comedy often centers on the mundane aspects of everyday life, such as the struggles of being a father or the awkwardness of dating.
Parodying Advertisements
Lajoie also created a series of parody commercials that poked fun at the absurdity of advertising. These parodies often promoted useless or shocking products.
Acting Career
Lajoie has appeared in several films and television shows. He played a supporting role in the 2010 comedy "Cop Out" and portrayed Taco MacArthur in the comedy series "The League."
