Early Life and Family
Jonathan Antin was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He grew up surrounded by beautiful and talented people in a "star-studded" atmosphere. His older brother, Steve Antin, was a well-known young actor in the 1980s, with notable films such as "The Goonies" (1985) in his portfolio. Jonathan's older sister, Robin, was a dancer and choreographer who formed her own female pop group and a burlesque-style dance troupe. His father, Michael, was an artist, and his mother, Brenda, was a former vice president of Motown Films. With such artistic and creative relatives, it was only natural for Jonathan to immerse himself in the bohemian world, and he soon discovered that it was his calling.
Career and Success
At the age of eight, Jonathan became interested in the profession of hairstyling after watching Warren Beatty's portrayal of a hairdresser in the film "Shampoo" (1975). A few years later, he dropped out of school and enrolled in the Fairfax Beauty Academy. Soon after completing his training, he found a job at a trendy salon in West Hollywood. By the age of 23, he was already running his own beauty salon and enjoying the company of numerous celebrity clients.
In 2004, Jonathan embarked on a risky venture by opening a new salon, which became the subject of a reality show. The unfiltered demonstration of various unexpected aspects of his seemingly glamorous life turned him into an overnight star. During the show's second season, Jonathan made an appearance at the "Sephora" store in New York City, where fans lined up for hours just to catch a glimpse of their idol.
