Jonathan Joubert: Luxembourgish Goalkeeper and Captain
Jonathan Joubert is a Luxembourgish footballer who currently plays as the goalkeeper and captain for F91 Dudelange. He has also represented the Luxembourg national team.
Early Life and Career
Joubert began playing football at the age of four. In 1997, he made his professional debut for Metz. After spending two seasons at Metz, he was acquired by Luxembourgish club Grevenmacher. In 2004, he joined F91 Dudelange, where he has remained to this day.
International Career
Joubert acquired Luxembourgish citizenship and made his international debut in June 2006 against Portugal. He retired from international football in September 2016 after a match against Bulgaria. However, he was recalled to the national team in August 2017 due to injuries at the goalkeeper position.
In a match against Belarus, Joubert led the team to a 1-0 victory, breaking a nine-match winless streak. In a subsequent match against France, Luxembourg achieved a 0-0 draw, marking the first time France had failed to defeat the small nation since 1914. Joubert served as captain and was hailed as the hero of the match.
Throughout his international career, Joubert made a total of 87 appearances and conceded 173 goals.
