Early Life and Family

Jorge Gibson Brown, an Argentine footballer of Scottish descent, was born into a prominent football family in the early 20th century. His father, one of the pioneers of football in Argentina, played for a second-team club before joining Palermo and later Lanús.

Rise to Prominence

In 1900, Brown returned to the English High School team, winning the Argentinian championship in his debut season. The club changed its name to Alumni in 1901 and dominated Argentine football for the next decade, winning nine championship titles out of 12.

International Career

Brown made his debut for the Argentina national team in 1902, playing 23 matches and scoring four goals. He became team captain in 1908 and wore the armband until 1913, leading the team in 18 matches.

Club Career Success

After the disbandment of Alumni, Brown joined Quilmes and won the Argentine championship in 1912. He retired from competitive football in 1914.

Post-Football Career

From 1914 to 1927, Brown played for the "Liga de Los Sabados" team of the Buenos Aires Cricket Club. He later became the club's president.
