Biography of Joseph Kahn

Joseph Kahn is a renowned American director of music videos, commercials, and feature films. He has worked with a diverse range of artists, including Muse, Ciara, Britney Spears, Ashley Simpson, Kelly Clarkson, Monica, Rob Zombie, Backstreet Boys, U2, The Chemical Brothers, Blink-182, Eminem, TLC, Mariah Carey, Moby, George Michael, Korn, Janet Jackson, The Black Eyed Peas, Destiny's Child, Gwen Stefani, Delta Goodrem, Brandy, and Pussycat Dolls, among many others.

Awards and Recognition

Joseph Kahn has received several awards for his work. He won the MTV Video Music Awards for "Video of the Year" for Brandy and Monica's "The Boy is Mine" and Britney Spears' "Toxic". In 2002, he won his first Grammy Award for Eminem's "Without Me" music video, which also received awards at the MTV VMA for "Video of the Year" and "Best Direction". He has also directed commercials for Acura, Bacardi, Vodafone, Budweiser, ASICS, Renault, Coors Light, NASCAR, Saab, Ford, and PlayStation. His Fox/Nascar commercial campaign won the Clio Award for visual effects in 2004.

Early Life and Career

Joseph Kahn is of Korean-American descent. He spent part of his childhood in Livorno, Italy before his family moved to Texas. After graduating high school in 1990, Kahn enrolled at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. After one year of studying, he dropped out to pursue a career in directing music videos.

Supermega and Film Directing

In 1999, Kahn founded his own company, Supermega, which is currently under the patronage of HSI Productions. In 2003, Joseph Kahn directed the film "Torque" starring renowned rapper Ice Cube. In May 2007, it was announced that Kahn would direct the film adaptation of William Gibson's science fiction novel "Neuromancer" with a budget of $70 million, produced by Peter Hoffman.
