Joseph Agbeko: Ghanaian Boxing Champion

Early Career

Born in Ghana, Joseph Agbeko began his professional boxing career in December 1998. For several years, he fought against opponents with zero records.

A Significant Clash

In May 2004, Agbeko faced undefeated Ukrainian boxer Vladimir Sidorenko. In a closely contested bout, Sidorenko emerged victorious with a majority decision.

World Champion Crowned

In September 2007, Agbeko ascended to the pinnacle of his career. He challenged IBF bantamweight champion Luis Alberto Perez of Nicaragua. Dominating throughout the fight with precise punches, Agbeko forced the fight to be stopped due to Perez's eye injuries, securing the world championship title.

Successful Defense

In December 2008, after a postponed match originally scheduled for October, Agbeko defended his IBF title against William Gonzalez. By majority decision, he retained his championship reign.
