Biography of Josh Hartnett
Joshua Daniel Hartnett, known as Josh Hartnett, was born on July 21, 1978, in St. Paul, Minnesota, although some sources mistakenly state San Francisco, California as his birthplace. He is the son of Wendy Anne and Daniel Thomas Hartnett, and he has two brothers, Jake and Joe. Hartnett was raised by his father, a building manager, and stepmother Molly, an artist. He attended a Catholic school and was passionate about football until a knee injury ended his sports career. In addition to his interest in acting, Hartnett is also passionate about painting.

After completing high school, Josh moved to New York to study at the Conservatory of Theatre Arts and Film at Purchase. At the age of 19, he arrived in California and soon caught the attention of critics with his role as Michael Fitzgerald in the television series "Cracker." Although the series had a short run, it was enough for Hartnett to make a name for himself and start receiving invitations from directors. Before his film career took off, Hartnett performed in small plays and appeared in commercials.

In 1998, Josh appeared in the slasher film "Halloween H20: 20 Years Later" alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, which performed well at the box office. He solidified his position by starring in Hollywood films such as "Lucky Number Slevin." Although his initial plans to play Tino in the action film "Deuces Wild" fell through, he landed one of the lead roles in Michael Bay's award-winning blockbuster "Pearl Harbor."

In the early 2000s, Hartnett was offered the role of Clark Kent/Superman several times, a project initially developed by Brett Ratner. Explaining his reasons for refusing, Hartnett stated, "Such films are not among my desired roles. I have also turned down other superhero roles." In 2003, PETA named him the "Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity."

Josh played various roles in films such as the detective drama "The Black Dahlia" (2006) alongside Scarlett Johansson, the drama "Resurrecting the Champ" (2007) with Samuel L. Jackson, and the horror film "30 Days of Night." He was the face of the fragrance "Diamonds for Men" by Emporio Armani and appeared on the covers of numerous magazines.

In 2014, Hartnett was cast as Ethan Chandler in the gothic horror series "Penny Dreadful," which helped expand his popularity. Despite his fame, Hartnett has expressed discomfort with being in the public eye, stating, "I know what it's like to be in the public eye. It lasted for several years, and I always felt uncomfortable. I think trying to stay on top is the shortest path to unhappiness."
Hartnett took a break from acting to reflect on his career and actively supported the "Global Cool" campaign against climate change. He has also been involved in raising awareness about drought issues in East Africa.
In the near future, Josh's acting can be seen in films such as "Valley of the Gods," "The Long Home," "6 Below," and "The Ottoman Lieutenant." In 2013, he began dating Tamsin Egerton, and they have two children together.
Josh Hartnett is known for his active stance in life and has even left his acting career to support the initiatives of the company Global Cool, promoting a healthy lifestyle. He has also drawn public attention to the drought problems in East Africa alongside colleagues Uma Thurman, Gina Davis, and model Chanel Iman.
