Joshua Otis 'Josh' Turner, a country singer, was born in 1977 in Southern California. Like many others, he sang in a church choir from a young age, eventually starting to perform bass and baritone parts. Later, while attending school, he sang in a quartet called 'Thankful Hearts' and took piano lessons. He continued his piano lessons even after graduating from school and enrolling at Francis Marion University. It was during this time that Josh decided to pursue a career in country music.

In 1996, tragedy struck when Turner lost his voice for almost a year due to vocal cord issues. Although surgery was not necessary, doctors strongly recommended that he let his voice rest. Josh followed their advice and spent the year whistling his favorite tunes and diligently studying classical vocal theory and piano playing.

After a year, his voice returned, and Turner headed to Nashville, the country music capital, to continue pursuing his passion at Belmont University. It was there in Nashville that he met Jennifer Ford, who would become his wife in 2003. They later had two sons together. Jennifer often accompanies Josh on his tours, serving as a backing vocalist in his band and playing the keyboards. "We are a happy family," Turner has mentioned in various interviews.

In the late 1990s, Turner studied vocals and prepared for his debut. On December 21, 2001, he released his first song, "Long Black Train," on the radio program "Grand Ole Opry." Two years later, in 2003, he released his first album with the same name, "Long Black Train." In 2005, Turner released the single "Your Man," preceding his next album of the same name, which was released in 2006. Slowly rising to the top, the album reached number one on the country music charts. Four weeks after its release, the album went gold and six months later attained platinum status. Another track from this album, "Would You Go with Me," reached number 48 on the Billboard Hot 100. In November 2006, Josh Turner performed it at the CMA Awards. Additionally, the composition "Me and God" was played on Christian radio stations.

In December of that year, Turner was nominated for two Grammy Awards - Best Male Vocal and Best Country Album. His third studio album, "Everything Is Fine," was released in October 2007. Its main track, "Firecracker," became a top ten hit, and the album quickly went gold. The music video for "Firecracker" was filmed in Tennessee in August 2007.

In the summer of 2009, the single "Why Don't We Just Dance" preceded Josh Turner's latest album to date, "Haywire." However, the original release date for the album was pushed from November 2009 to February 2010. Additionally, Josh Turner tried his hand at acting in the biographical film "Billy: The Early Years," portraying George Beverly Shea, a musician who accompanied the main character, evangelist Billy Graham.

In September 2007, Josh Turner was inducted into the prestigious Grand Ole Opry, becoming the second youngest member after Carrie Underwood to receive this great honor.
