Early Career

Malina's first appearance in a Broadway production was in Aaron Sorkin's play "A Few Good Men." He later went on to receive more significant roles. Malina became acquainted with Sorkin through his parents, and he jokingly claims that Sorkin includes him in his plays because Joshua helped him dislodge a piece of hamburger stuck in his throat. Throughout his acting career, Malina has appeared in all of Sorkin's films and plays.

Personal Life

Malina is married to Melissa Merwin, a costume designer whom he met in 1992 through their families. They have two children, Isabelle and Avi.

Film and Television Career

Malina's first experience in the film industry was as an assistant in the comedy "Fletch Lives," a low-quality sequel to the 1985 hit "Fletch." He made his on-screen debut with a small five-word role in the film adaptation of "A Few Good Men." For this role, Malina is grateful to Jack Nicholson, as his character did not appear in the frame and could have been played by any member of the technical staff.

Malina had a larger role as the assistant to the main character, played by Annette Bening, in Sorkin's film "The American President." He later appeared in four episodes of the satirical talk show "The Larry Sanders Show" playing two different characters.

From 1998 to 2000, Malina played the role of Jeremy Goodwin in Sorkin's show "Sports Night." Despite having a small number of fans, the series was soon canceled. From 2002 to 2006, Malina portrayed Will Bailey in "The West Wing." Initially, he was brought in to replace the departing star of the show, Rob Lowe, although Malina repeatedly stated that they had nothing in common.

Currently, Malina hosts the television show "Celebrity Poker Showdown" on the cable channel "Bravo"
