Josip Drmić

Josip Drmić is a Swiss professional footballer of Croatian descent who plays as a forward for Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach and the Switzerland national team.

Club Career

FC Zürich

Drmić began his career with FC Zürich, progressing through their youth ranks. He made his first-team debut on 6 February 2010, coming on as a substitute in a match against FC Xamax. He scored his first league goal on 4 February 2012, in a 1-1 draw away to FC Luzern.

1. FC Nürnberg

On 5 July 2013, Drmić signed a contract with 1. FC Nürnberg until 2017. He debuted for the club in the opening match of the season against 1899 Hoffenheim, coming on as a substitute for Robert Mak. The following round, Drmić scored his first goal for Nürnberg, in a 2-2 draw with Hertha BSC.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen

On 12 May 2014, Drmić joined Bayer 04 Leverkusen, signing a five-year contract. He scored his first goal for Leverkusen on 21 September 2014, in a match against VfL Wolfsburg.

Borussia Mönchengladbach

On 17 June 2015, Drmić signed a contract until 2019 with Borussia Mönchengladbach.

International Career

Drmić became a member of the Switzerland Olympic team in 2012. He made his senior international debut for Switzerland on 11 September 2012, against Albania, appearing as a 91st-minute substitute for Granit Xhaka. On 5 March 2014, Drmić scored his first two goals for the national team in a match against Croatia.
