Early Life and Musical Education

Jovan Stamatović-Karić is a Serbian musician, director, videoblogger, screenwriter, and producer born in Belgrade, Serbia. Although his parents divorced early, he spent most of his childhood with his grandparents and uncle in Vršac. In 1990, he relocated to Moscow with his mother and stepfather, where he began his musical journey. In 2001, he enrolled in the piano faculty of the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after P. I. Tchaikovsky. He also studied under A. B. Lyubimov at the University of Mozarteum from 2007 to 2010.

Music Career

Stamatović-Karić has performed as a soloist, chamber ensemble soloist, accompanist, and with orchestras across Europe. His repertoire includes works from Baroque composers like J. S. Bach and contemporary composers such as V. Silvestrov and A. Hynastera. In 2014, he created an experimental creative duo with actress and vocalist Ana Sofrenović, developing two innovative concert formats: "Blind Concert" and "Dialogue."

Directing and Dramaturgy

Stamatović-Karić's directing career began in 2012 with stage productions in Serbia. Notable works include "Yesenin" at the Russian House in Belgrade, "The Merciful Angel" at the Belgrade Cultural Center, and "Midsummer Night's Dream" at Ciglana, among others. In 2015, he collaborated on the project "Noordung :: 1995-2015-2045" with Dragan Živadinov and Miha Turšič.

Film and Television

In 2016, Stamatović-Karić made his debut as a screenwriter, director, and producer with the feature film "Through the Clouds." He also directed the television show "Eagle and Tails" for Samira Filming, a production studio he leads since 2019.

YouTube Channel and Other Projects

In 2021, Stamatović-Karić launched the YouTube channel "JSK," where he interviews prominent figures from various fields. Guests have included writers, sculptors, musicians, and directors. He also hosts the show "Voice of Sports," which explores the lives of Serbia's most renowned sports commentators.

Academia and Other Engagements

Stamatović-Karić served as a lecturer at the New Academy of Arts in Belgrade and was the artistic director of the creative association "NK Studio" from 2010 to 2017. He organized the "Unprincipled Readings in Belgrade" in 2017, featuring young Serbian artists reading works by renowned Russian authors.
