Joy Behar is an American comedian, writer, actress, and co-host of the talk show "The View." In 2009, she launched her own talk show, "The Joy Behar Show."

Early Life and Education

Behar was born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on October 7, 1942, to Italian-American parents. She graduated from Queens College with a Bachelor of Arts in 1964 and from Stony Brook University with a Master of Science and Arts in 1966.

Career

Behar began her comedy career in the 1980s. In 1997, she joined "The View" as a substitute host for Barbara Walters. She became a permanent co-host in 2009, alongside Whoopi Goldberg.

Personal Life

Behar married Joe Behar in 1965. They divorced in 1981 and had one daughter, Eve, born in 1970. Since 1982, she has been in a domestic partnership with Steve Janowitz.

Controversy and Awards

In 2006, Behar was involved in a controversial on-air exchange with former "The View" host Star Jones. In 2009, Behar and the other hosts of "The View" won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show.
