Biography of Józef Życiński
Józef Życiński was a Polish Catholic priest, theologian, and prelate. He was born on March 12, 1940, in Nisko, Poland. Życiński dedicated his life to the service of the Catholic Church and made significant contributions to the field of theology.
Episcopate
On November 4, 1990, Życiński was appointed as the Bishop of Tarnów, a position he held until June 14, 1997. During his time as Bishop, he demonstrated strong leadership and worked diligently to strengthen the Catholic community in Tarnów.
On June 14, 1997, Życiński was appointed as the Archbishop of Lublin, a role in which he served until February 10, 2011. As Archbishop, he focused on promoting unity within the Church and fostering interfaith dialogue.

Aside from his ecclesiastical responsibilities, Życiński was an esteemed scholar and researcher. He earned his Ph.D. in 1980 and became a member of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.
