Biography of Judy Greer

Early Life

Judy Laura Evans was born in Livonia, Michigan to an engineer father and a hospital administrator mother. She attended Winston Churchill High School and described her social status as evolving from being unnoticed to being indifferent to not being noticed.

Early Career

After studying ballet for almost 10 years, Greer enrolled in the prestigious theater program at DePaul University, which she graduated from in 1997. Just three days after her graduation, she made her film debut in the comedy "Kissing a Fool," starring Jason Lee, in a small role. This marked her ticket to Los Angeles, as she flew there for the film premiere with her American Bulldog Buckley and decided not to return.

Rise to Fame

In Los Angeles, Greer started getting more and more acting roles. In 1999, she appeared in the black comedy "Jawbreaker" and had a memorable kiss with George Clooney in the opening scenes of the film "Three Kings." She gained wider recognition in 2000 with her role in the film "What Women Want," starring alongside Mel Gibson. Greer's breakthrough came in 2002 when she played a waitress who becomes the love interest of the main character in the critically acclaimed film "Adaptation," which won an Academy Award.

Continued Success

While Greer's roles were mostly supporting, they were always memorable and she developed a reputation for stealing scenes from the lead actors. She appeared in a number of successful TV shows such as "Arrested Development," "C.S.I.: Miami," "Californication," and "My Name is Earl." Despite her talent and popularity, she was often considered underrated by the industry.

Recent Projects
