Biography of Jules Massenet

Jules Emile Frédéric Massenet, a French composer, was born on May 12, 1842, in Monto. He received several awards from the Paris Conservatory, as well as the Rome Prize. From 1878 to 1896, he served as a composition professor at the Conservatory. In 1878, he was elected to the Academy of Fine Arts.

Famous Operas

Massenet's most well-known operas include "Manon" (1884), "Werther" (1892), "Thais" (1894), and "Le Jongleur de Notre Dame" (1902).

Other Works

In addition to his operas, Massenet composed several oratorios, orchestral suites, piano pieces, songs, and a piano concerto with orchestra.
