Early Life and Club Career
Julius Aghahowa: The Nigerian Striking ProdigyJulius Aghahowa was born on October 12, 1982, in Benin City, Nigeria. His football journey began with local amateur club Police before joining first-division side Bendel Insurance. In 1999, Aghahowa represented Nigeria at the U-17 African Cup of Nations and the U-20 World Cup, where he showcased his impressive goal-scoring abilities.
Success with Esperance and Nigeria
After his performances at the international level, Aghahowa signed for Tunisian club Esperance. In 1999, he helped his team reach the final of the CAF Champions League and secure the national championship title. Aghahowa also made his senior international debut for Nigeria in 2000, becoming the youngest player in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Shakhtar Donetsk Glory
In November 2000, Aghahowa moved to Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk. He made an immediate impact, scoring seven goals in eight matches.
