Early Life and Education

Born in Woldegk, Mecklenburg-Strelitz, George Adolf Ernest Guerin was a Polish topographer and land surveyor. He graduated from the Technical University of Berlin, establishing a solid foundation for his future endeavors.

Academic and Professional Career

In 1817, Guerin was appointed as Professor of Surveying and Geodesy at the University of Warsaw. His expertise was sought after, and he concurrently held the role of Inspector of Surveying and Geodesy for the Duchy of Warsaw from 1818 onward.

Ingenious Invention: The Polish Planimeter

Guerin's ingenuity shone through when he designed and constructed the first Polish planimeter in 1820. This groundbreaking device revolutionized the field of surveying, enabling the precise measurement of areas on a map.
