Krista Hogan and Tatiana Hogan were born in 2006 in Vancouver, Canada, to parents Felicia Simms and Brendan Hogan. It was during Felicia's 21st week of pregnancy when she learned that she was expecting twins. However, it was not an ordinary twin pregnancy. The doctor informed Felicia that her unborn daughters were conjoined twins, with their heads fused together. Furthermore, the chances of their survival were very slim, with doctors giving them only a 20% chance of living.

Despite the grim prognosis, Felicia made the decision not to undergo an abortion and to let nature take its course. In October 2006, the girls were born healthy, with normal weights, except for the fact that they were joined at the head. Each of them had a well-formed face and normal reflexes. They were named Krista and Tatiana, and despite frequent hospital visits, the girls grew and developed.

The Unique Bond of Krista and Tatiana

Although each girl had her own body and personality, Krista and Tatiana shared a unique bond. They had a mixed nervous system, and it was later discovered that their brains were also interconnected. Interestingly, when one of the girls cried, giving the other a pacifier would immediately silence her. Doctors also concluded that Krista and Tatiana had shared vision to a certain extent, despite having different pairs of eyes. One twin could perceive information that the other couldn't see, effectively using her sister's eyes.

In 2007, it was officially decided not to separate the girls, as the risk of leaving one of them paralyzed or worse outweighed the potential benefits. The early years of their lives were extensively covered in the media, with a documentary film made about them in 2009. The family also appeared on various television shows, including "The Tyra Banks Show."

By the time they celebrated their third birthday, Krista and Tatiana exhibited completely normal developmental milestones. They could speak, count, and do everything that a typical three-year-old could do. Alongside their normal childhood activities, the girls also learned to fight with each other, prompting their mother to constantly trim their nails, which were their main weapons.
